Monitor Heater - Laser Heater Parts, Service, Repair

Hi.  I wanted to post to remind everyone to go ahead and turn on your Monitor or Laser Heater before it gets really cold. 

 

  • Test it out and make sure everything working correctly.  If you have any problems or your heater has not been serviced in a while, call to make an appointment to bring your heater into the shop.  Click here for details.  
  • If you are not local and don't have a service technician in your area, call for a technician consult appointment.  Our technician will walk you through diagnosis and repair over the phone.  We get lots of calls from customers that have spent several hours and sometimes several hundred dollars on parts trying to repair or rebuild their heater.  They are frustrated and the heater is still not working.  It is really worth the $49 / hour tech consultation to get the job done correctly and quickly.  
  • We have an extensive inventory of both used and new parts - just let us know if you can't find the part you need in our Web Store and if we have it or if we can get it, we will list it for you.  Local pick up is available if you prefer.   
  • Test out your backup Portable Kerosene Heater - make an appointment to bring it in for a wick replacement or go ahead and purchase an extra wick to have on hand when you need it.  Contact us if you need help finding the correct wick for your heater.

CORE REBATE / BOARD PURCHASE DETAILS

 

You will receive a $100 rebate (or the amount specified in the listing) upon the return of your board (this includes main circuit boards and switch and lamp assemblies)

 

Instructions / Notes:

 

  • You cannot return a board / switch and lamp assembly that is broken apart - the board / switch and lamp assembly has to be in one solid piece with all of the parts still attached including the transformer if applicable. (what you return should look exactly like what you received)
  • Be sure to properly package the board in the same packaging in which you received it. If the board is broken during delivery, you will not be eligible for the rebate. You may insure the package shipment if you wish. We are not responsible for lost, delayed or damaged mail.
  • Completely fill out the REBATE FORM that will be included with your board and include it with your return shipment.
  • We strongly recommend that you plug your heater into a dedicated outlet with a quality surge protector. Here is the link to ours: SURGE PROTECTOR. We also recommend that you unplug your heater during the months that it is not in use.
  • If we receive a board or lamp assembly that does not meet these requirements, no rebate will be issued. If you then would like the board returned to you, you will be responsible for the cost of return shipping.
  • We offer no warranties on new or used boards / lamp assemblies.
  • NO RETURNS for used or new boards or lamp assemblies.

 

Why do we have a no warranty / no return policy for both new and used boards and lamp assemblies?

 

Sometimes the board or lamp assembly is not what is wrong with the heater to begin with. We also are not able to determine if there are any issues with your installation or electrical supply to the heater. Due to these factors, we do not offer warranties or returns for circuit boards.

 

Monitor Heater / Toyostove Laser Heater SAFETY

Hi.  This post is to point out some actions you should take to be sure that you are operating your Monitor Heater, Laser Heater or Portable Kerosene Heater safely and efficiently.  Monitor Heaters and Toyostove Laser Heaters are very safe and efficient units and there are steps you should take to maximize the safety and efficiency of your unit.  


Here are a few suggestions:  


Install a quality CO2 detector in your home near your heater.

Plug your heater into a dedicated outlet with a quality surge protector.

Be sure that there is proper clearance all the way around the heater.  This will allow for the most efficient and proper function of the unit.  The details on clearance around each heater are explained in your Owner's Manual.  If you do not have an Owner's Manual for your heater, they are available in our Web Store or you can contact us for the details for your heater.

Change your In-Line Fuel Filter each year to be sure you are burning clean, pure kerosene.  Be sure to check for leaks any time that you disconnect and reconnect any fuel line fittings.

Laser Heater Installation with Flue Pipe Extensions

If you are installing a Laser Heater and your wall is greater than 9 inches thick, you will need a Flue Pipe Extension.  

Please refer to the following chart and NOTE that these flue pipe extensions are only compatible with the new style (two-piece) flue pipes, Part # 20479891:

In-Shop Repair Details:  

Please be sure to call prior to bringing your heater to the shop.

When you remove your heater, turn off the fuel and plug the fuel line coming into the heater and cap the fuel line coming out of the heater. (You may purchase a cap and plug from the hardware store or you can purchase one from our Web Store using this link: CAP & PLUG and we will ship them to you). Note: be sure you purchase the correct cap & plug (Flared or Compression Fittings - most are flared).

You do not need to bring the flue pipe into the shop, only the heater unless there is an issue with your flue pipe.  There is a small spring on top of the flue pipe that needs to be disconnected on one end prior to removing the heater.  

Please keep the heater UPRIGHT when transporting.  The heater may not function correctly and may need further repair if you put it on it's side.  

We ask that you social distance and wear a mask when dropping off your heater. Customers are not allowed to remain in the shop. We will call you when your heater is ready.

If you need same day repair, call to schedule an appointment. You may not wait in the shop. Usually we can complete the repair in 1 to 2 hours and will call when your heater is ready.

Your heater should be plugged into a dedicated outlet with a quality surge protector. If you need one, we have them available in the shop for purchase.

The in-line filter from your kerosene tank should be changed each year. We have these available in the shop for purchase.

USPS Shipping

Hi.  I wanted to post about the current situation with USPS.  If you are not aware that there is an issue with USPS, there is.  You should be able to search on the internet and find lots of information concerning USPS delivery issues.  

I am addressing this because I sell heater parts and often it is imperative that you get your order as soon as possible, especially in the winter.  I want to explain the situation and let you know that we do offer other shipping options.  

USPS is experiencing significant delays in deliveries and has been for a few months.  They have also announced that along with another price increase, that delivery times will be slower.  So USPS is charging more and downgrading their service.  USPS First Class, Priority Mail and Priority Mail Express are all affected.  With any of these options, MOST OF THE TIME for the last few months since the problems began, about 90 to 95% of the packages that we ship are arriving within the proper time frame.  However, the 5-10% that are delayed become significant when it is your order and you are out of heat.  

We ship daily to get your order out as soon as possible.  However, we have no control over the delivery process.  Most of our small or lightweight items ship USPS First Class Mail.  Heavier, larger items ship USPS Priority Mail.  If you are in need of expedited shipping or want to know how much shipping would be with a more reliable service like FedEx or UPS, contact us and we will be glad to give you a shipping quote.  Many of the items that we ship, we can ship in a FedEx Pak for $11 to $12.  Feel free to contact us for a quote.  

We want to offer the best service for the best price and we also want to make sure that you get your order quickly.  That is why we will customize shipping for you upon request.  Also please contact us if you order several parts and the shipping seems excessive.  This website does not have the functionality to combine shipping but we can do that for you upon request.  If you are Central US to Eastern US and ordering a heavy part, you could qualify for a reduction in shipping costs.  Contact us for details.

SHIPPING Issues with USPS

Hi.  I wanted to write addressing current issues with USPS.  There have been some issues with delays in packages.  However MOST of the packages are being delivered with no issues.  It seems as there may be additional delays in the next few months.  This is also the time that customers are turning on their Monitor Heaters and Laser Heaters for the season and the time that most orders of parts for service or repair of Monitor & Laser Heaters are made.  

We ship very quickly, usually same day shipping so that you get your parts quickly.  If the item is under one pound it is normally shipped USPS First Class.  If over one pound, it is USPS Priority Mail.  USPS and FEDEX Overnight, upon request only.  

I think that MOST packages will be delivered as normal for the remainder of the year.  However, with the current USPS issues being reported, I would suggest upgrading shipping to one of the following options:

USPS Priority Mail and adding insurance

FedEx with insurance

It is very important to us that you get the parts for your Monitor Heater or Laser Heater as quickly as possible.  That is why I am making this suggestion.  We will still do our part in shipping parts the same day if ordered by the cut off time.  But we have no control over USPS.  Please consider the minimal cost to upgrade your delivery to help insure timely delivery of your parts.

Monitor Heater Rebuild

Hi.  I wanted to share a post about the excellent work that our technicians perform.  These photos are of a Monitor 40 before and after.  The customer did not think it was the same heater.  You may purchase a rebuild kit and do it yourself or bring your heater to our shop and have the technician rebuild it for you.  Shop labor is only $59 per hour and they do a GREAT job and a rebuild usually takes 2 to 3 hours.  Don't throw out your old Monitor Heater, rebuild it for much less than half the cost of a new one in most cases...often closer to 1/3 the cost of a new one.  Please contact us for details.
